Structural Ultra-lightweight Nano Concrete

Annually, about 53 million cubic meters of concrete consuming in the country, a large part of which lacks the desired quality, which makes it necessary to increase the amount of cement and leads to the loss of this precious material. On the other hand, the increase in the density of the commonly produced concrete and the consideration of the excessively high-reliability factor by the consultant engineers, because of the uncertainties in the production routine, has caused an excessive increase in the volume of concrete pouring and cement consumption.

Nanotechnology is a new technology that has covered the whole world today, and to be more precise, nanotechnology is not a part of the future; but the whole of it. In a simple definition, we can say that nanotechnology is the capacity to produce new materials, tools, and systems by taking advantage of the ability to control processes at the molecular and atomic levels and using the properties that exist at those levels. From this simple definition, it is clear that nanotechnology is not a new branch; but a new approach in all fields. By using this method, scientists can produce substances that do not exist in nature, and traditional chemistry is not able to make them. Some characteristics of nanostructures are as: less weight, more resistance, programmability, longer life, etc.

Nanotechnology can revolutionize the main properties of concrete, including strength, brittleness, creep and shrinkage, durability, permeability, and porosity. Therefore, experts and leading companies should introduce this technology to the industry and provide reasons for everyone to use it. Thousands of cubic meters of concrete are used daily in the construction industry. Thus paying attention to value engineering in the optimal use of this product in urban constructions is very important.

In recent years, the researchers of Basa Knowledge Based Company (Vandidad) have been conducting extensive research on the use of nano-materials in concrete, which has led to producing Structural Ultra Lightweight Nano-Concrete with unique weight-resistance ratio.
